Updated: May 4, 2020

Kanika Aggarwal (22) is a B Com (H) graduate, CFA Level 2 candidate and CA finalist. She is currently pursuing her Articleship and has come forward to share her experience with all the students:

  • Articleship Role: Corporate Tax & Advisory

  • Company: Ernst & Young India LLP

  • Location: Gurgaon

  • Duration: ongoing (1 year, 9 months)

How did you find out about the articleship?

Through the placement cell of my college.

What are your responsibilities in the articleship?

My work is primarily related to Litigation and Advisory.

How much time do you contribute on a daily basis?

8-10 hours

What are the top 3 skills you've acquired?

  • Stress Management

  • Time Management

  • Drafting and Analytical Skills

How has your articleship helped you to move forward in your career?

It has made me stronger than ever, be it emotional intelligence, be it intellectually. The best part about EY is that in the busy season, you come to know how to work and contribute the best to the client services as a 'team' and how to manage time and stress simultaneously.

If someone wants to apply for the same role, what would be your advice to them?

I would suggest the person to definitely go for the Big 4s, because I believe that once in a life time, everyone must have the flavour of the working style of Big 4s and enjoy the level of professionalism and discipline.

Kanika's articleship experience would give you a sense of the Big 4s and the role you assume as a CA finalist. She also talked about the work culture and how the journey prepares you to cope with stress.

Thanks Kanika for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. I'm certain it'd help many aspirants who wish to do articleship in the near future.
