15 Free CAT Mock Tests 2020 - They are Actually Free!

Updated: Oct 16, 2021

Before you start wondering if this is another website which promises Free CAT Mocks but ends up asking you for money, let me share the intent behind this post. I appeared for CAT in 2017, scored 99.09 percentile, got into IIM Ahmedabad and created this blog to help aspirants, who often don't have the right contacts to address their concerns.

A couple of days ago, an aspirant was asking me if there is any website which offers free mocks for CAT 2020 preparation. I asked him to check online but he responded that it's really difficult to find which websites are truly offering free mocks and which ones are just promoting their brand.

So, here is a post that lists down 15 Free CAT Mocks for your CAT 2020 Preparation along with detailed step-by-step process as to what the website is going to ask for and what you're going to get in return.

Disclaimer - I'm not endorsing any of these brands, you may choose any test series of your liking. The only agenda behind this post is for all the CAT 2020 aspirants to have some additional resources for preparation :)

II. Cracku Free Mock Tests
  • Number of Free Tests: 3

  • Exam Pattern: CAT-like

  • User Interface: Good

What it asks for: Quick registration - you can sign up using your Facebook or Gmail account, I used Gmail (took about a second).

What you get: 3 free Cracku mocks for CAT'20 - same pattern as CAT, 3 sections, 100 questions with 180 minutes allotted. All tests are timed, the interface is decent. On submission of the mock test, you get a very comprehensive analysis that states time spent per question, whether the question was hard or easy, how much time you should have ideally spent on it. You also get very detailed solutions.

III. Shiksha Mocks by IMS
  • Number of Free Tests: 2

  • Exam Pattern: CAT-like

  • User Interface: Poor

What it asks for: Three-step registration - you can sign up using Gmail. After this step, you are asked for your mobile number and city. Please note that you get an OTP on mobile to complete the registration.

What you get: 2 free Shiksha mocks for CAT'20 powered by IMS - same pattern as CAT, 3 sections, 100 questions with 180 minutes allotted. All tests are timed but the interface is poor. You cannot navigate through the questions, you simply attempt and move forward. Upon submission, I wasn't shown analysis, an error page appeared instead (but this could be because I didn't attempt any question).

VI. Youth4Work CAT Mock

  • Exam Pattern: Different

  • User Interface: Good

What it asks for: Lengthy registration - you can sign up by filling the following details - name, e-mail, phone, username, password, college, degree, specialization, city, year.

What you get: 1 free Youth4Work mock for CAT but it is slightly different from the CAT pattern. You get 98 questions with 180 minutes allotted. The test is timed, the interface is good. The mock analysis wasn't generated but again, it could be because I didn't attempt any question.

VII. Byju's Free CAT Mock
  • Number of Free Test: 1

  • Exam Pattern: Different

  • User Interface: Poor

What it asks for: No registration - you can take the mock without any prior step.

What you get: 1 free Byju's mock for CAT but the questions are mixed up - from all three sections randomly. The test is not timed, it's just simply 100 free MCQs for your practice. The user interface is not as per the CAT exam, no navigation or ability to see the unattempted questions. Just use it as a set of 100 free questions.

VIII. CAT Exam Official Mock

What you get: Obviously, this is the best representative of the actual exam. But, right now, only CAT 2019 users can access this mock. When the registration begins, this mock will be made available to the CAT 2020 users too. So, keep an eye on the link below to access the mock and take it before the final exam.
