How did you find out about the fellowship?

Through Internshala.

What were your responsibilities as a part of it?

I conducted research on the initiatives taken up by the bureaucrats of India. I instrumented in analyzing and drafting reports for the upcoming book of IAS Officer, which was cadre project-oriented and also contributed for annual summit KIGA'18. On the content part, it dealt with academic and research writing skills.

How much time did you contribute on a daily basis?

5 hours on an average.

What were the top 3 skills you acquired?

1. Research 2. Communication 3. Management

How did the fellowship help you going forward in your career?

It was my first internship and it provided a strong realization of skill sets, content requirement and professionalism required but importantly, it gave me the confidence to dream big by working with such inspiring people.

If someone wants to apply for the same role, what would be your advice to them?

If you are research oriented and willing to work on governance aspects, these roles have lot to offer.

Neera's experience is one of its own kind where a lot of her learning has come from the people she worked with. Hope this gives you a flavour for how fellowships work.

Thanks Neera for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. I'm certain it'd help many aspirants who wish to work closely with the bureaucrats.
