When are IIM interview final results announced and what happens next?

I just returned home today and to my surprise, the inbox was full of messages along the lines of "When will the final result of IIMs be declared?" or "When will the IIMs release the final selection list?" So, I understood this is 'that time of the year' again when anxiety levels are at the peak. This post might help you with what to expect:
It was easier for me to answer these queries because I maintained e-mail labels for each IIM to keep a track of their respective formalities. So, this post is based on whatever I could find in those e-mails.
The questions like, "when is it declared" or "what happens next" have been answered for each IIM separately. This is based on what happened during my year i.e. 2018.
IIM Ahmedabad
IIM-A declared the final result on 6th April, 2018. This is how the online portal on IIM-A's website looked like:
Post this, the results were shared with the selected candidates via e-mail on 8th April, 2018.
The e-mail also enlisted other criteria that needed to be fulfilled before a due date for the admission to be confirmed from the candidate's end:
Written acceptance and payment of acceptance fee (INR 1,00,000) to be directly remitted online.
Sending of the receipt of the above transaction to IIM-A by post.
During admission (in June): Submission of original mark sheets, certificate by institute (if still in college), work experience proofs like relieving letter and bonafide certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), disability certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card's copy, medical certificate.
At the same time, candidates were also sent an Admission Deferment Form in case they wished to defer their admission. That was followed by e-mails from General Secretary, Acads Council, various Banks, Media Cell, Mentorship Cell, Sports Comm, etc. welcoming and introducing the new joiners to the institute norms.
The most important of these e-mails regarding CV proofs process was sent by the Recruitment Secretary on 25th April, 2018. This is the most important e-mail because it sets a ground for how your CV proofs will be screened, what all you need to keep ready before coming to IIM-A, etc. (Let me know if you need a post around it later, it will help you in staying ready with all your CV points beforehand).
The registration process began on 20th June, 2018 and the program commenced on 22nd June, 2018.
IIM Bangalore
IIM-B also declared its results on the online portal on 6th April, 2018, in fact, just 5 minutes before IIM-A. I couldn't make it to IIM-B, so I don't think I stored its portal's image of rejection :P It was a very stressful time, so I am just thankful that IIM-A's result got declared immediately next, else I would have been heart-broken for a while. Anyway, I'm sorry but I received no communication from the institute post 6th April.
IIM Calcutta
The result for IIM-C was declared on 7th April, 2018. Initially, I was waitlisted by the institute:
I got the confirmation e-mail on 3rd May, 2018. The e-mail shared the rest of the formalities:
The formalities included accepting the offer and the payment of acceptance fee (INR 1,00,000). The e-mail also enclosed the list of scholarships available, the medical certificate form, the syllabus for some courses meant for students with no background in math, etc.
The registration was to begin from June 12, 2018 and final classes from June 18, 2018.

Almost all the IIMs had a similar procedure to A and C. The waitlist movement was on till June end.
What to expect?
Honestly, this is the most anxious of all times. By now, you must have replayed your interview experiences several times in your head. You must be disappointed with some questions you weren't able to answer or some answers that received a smirk by the professor. I'd just like to share with you my IIM Indore's experience:
IIM Indore's Experience
In my IIM Indore interview, I had such a poker face throughout the interview because I didn’t answer any serious question. The interviewers were asking me questions out of nowhere. For example, they asked me to name the Mughal emperors in the order in which they ruled. Before I could answer, they asked to name 10 songs with their names in it.
Here’s another one - they asked me what is something unique about me. I said I like details, no matter how trivial the thing. They asked me how is a triviality defined. For example, “Is the wall behind us trivial?” Imagine my poker face now.
Then they continued, despite my silence - “Even if this wall is trivial, can you tell us about a wall that wasn’t trivial?” I had almost given up. They continued, “It’s the wall that opens the Room of Requirement. Haven’t you seen Harry Potter?”
I mean out of all the walls in the world, they were expecting me to think about the wall at Hogwarts. That was the only interaction we had. More so of a monologue actually. That’s it. My interview was over.
And guess what, I converted (I laughed so hard when I saw the result).
To date, I don’t know why they selected me. Probably due to my inclination to answer, even if I couldn’t. Probably due to my profile. There might be so many factors that were never in my mind while coming out of the interview room but those factors were in their minds while evaluating my performance in the interview.
The bottom line being, “Don’t let one part of your interview guide how you fared overall.” You may not understand what happened in the room, at least not from their perspective. So, let it be. Wait for the results and hope for the best.
